‘Super Street Fighter 4′Arcade Lets You‘Chuse’And‘Make Your Comb’» MTV Multiplayer

Street Fighter 4 Arcade

Weird Japanese-to-English translations hold a proud place in video game history. From such meme-tastic classics as"All your base are belong to us"in"Zero Wing"to"A winner is you"from"Pro Wrestling,"language hasn't always been able to make a clean jump across cultures. I'm guessing that a similar translation outsourcing process must have been behind some"Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition"instructions that were captured by a quick-camera'd Twitter user.

Phrases such as"Guird by saving attack"and"Chuse and attack"show up in an on-cabinet visual aid seen byMr. Alex Valle(viaEventHubs.com).

While rumors a few weeks ago indicated thatEvil Ryu and"Oni Akuma"might be showing up in this game, I don't think anyone expected combs to play as vital a role as these messages seem to indicate.

Players are not only encouraged to"Shoot special comb!"but also told that they"Can cancel attack by saving make your comb!"It's always more fun when typos make sense in a proper grammatical context, but things unfortunately don't work out like that in every case.

Could this mean that futureXbox 360 and PlayStation 3 DLCreleases will include"comb"achievements and reward players by"chusing"wisely? At this point, I think Capcom should just role with it and embrace what they've apparently already let out into the world.

What's your favorite typo from the"SSF4"machine? Are you glad to see that Capcom has added some combs to the game's arcade edition? Share your reactions with us in the comment section below.

‘Bit.Trip Flux’Paddles And Music Outed By ESRB» MTV Multiplayer

Bit.Trip Flux

In the spirit of Gaijin Games' minimalist pixel-block series"Bit.Trip,"the Entertainment Software Rating Board has opted to give their new game"Bit.Trip Flux"a suitably trimmed-down description. The explanation for their"E for Everyone"rating does contain a few barebones spoilers, however, including the presence of some elements like paddles and action-oriented musical tones.

The upcoming Wii title should have quite a bit in common with its predecessor,"Bit.Trip Beat,"and though we're fully expecting to see some new gameplay elements, its listing onESRB.orgdoesn't really expose anything outrageous:

This is a musical paddle game in which players move a vertical platform to deflect waves of dots that fly across the screen. With each collision, a musical tone is emitted to correspond with the beat of background music.

So what are the folks at Gaijin going to throw into the mix to blow our minds this time around? Will there be fire? Guns? Spheres? You'll have to ask them for the time being. As you can see from the ESRB's previousrating justification for"Bit.Trip Beat,"they seem to believe that they played the same game twice:

This is a music game in which players use a paddle to hit balls and other objects in time to music. Players can change the rhythm and tone of the music based on the pattern of objects hit.

Maybe Gaijin just made the whole thing more extreme and with louder music.

Are you looking forward to"Bit.Trip Flux"? Would you like to see Gaijin approach anything differently than they did in"Bit.Trip Beat"? Share your opinions with us in the comment section below.

‘Call Of Duty: Black Ops’Earns Most Pirated Game Of The Year Honors» MTV Multiplayer

Black Ops piracy

Every step of the way, onlookers have been watching to see if"Call of Duty: Black Ops"would be able tohit or surpassthebenchmarksthat"Modern Warfare 2"set one year ago. This week, Activision and Treyarch succeeded in crossing at least one more one title of distinction off their list— Most Pirated Game of the Year. Infinity Ward's previous installment for the seriesclaimed the same honor in 2009, and now 2010 officially belong to"Black Ops."

As of December 26, 2010,"Black Ops"had been downloaded via BiTorrent at least 4,270,000 times, according to a 2010 recap report onTorrentFreak. The game may have been beat out on the Xbox 360 by four games, namely"Dante’s Inferno,""Alan Wake,""Red Dead Redemption"and"Halo: Reach,"but its 930,000 downloads for that platform put its combined PC/360 numbers just over the 5 million mark.

Granted, that's probably not a statistic that you're going to see plastered across billboards and television advertisements, but it does how many people out there are willing to risk running afoul of the law to pick up the year's most popular first-person shooter.

Rounding off the rest of the Top 5 list for the PC were"Battlefield: Bad Company 2"at 3,960,000 downloads,"Mafia 2"with 3,550,000,"Mass Effect 2"at 3,240,000 and"Starcraft 2"at 3,120,000, despite Blizzard's anti-piracy efforts through Battle.net.

As for Wii games,"Super Mario Galaxy 2"led the pack on that front with 1,470,000 downloads. It beat out"Wii Party""Donkey Kong Country Returns,""Kirbys Epic Yarn"and"Red Steel 2."

Those numbers could make for quite the jailhouse LAN and Mario parties if publishers and the legal system ever catch up with everyone. The real pressure will be on next year, however, to see if Activision can three-peat.

Are you surprised to see how many times"Black Ops"was illegally downloaded this year? Everything look about like you thought it would? Share your opinions with us in the comment section below.

‘Fire Pro-Wrestling’For Xbox 360 Rated In Australia» MTV Multiplayer

Fire Pro Wrestling

Microsoft revealed back at this year's Tokyo Game Show that they'd been working to bring some Japanese-developed games overseas, including"Radiant Silvergun"and"Fire Pro-Wrestling."The latter of those two titles will carry the name of Spike's long-running series that's appeared on the Gameboy Advance, PlayStation 2 and other systems; this time, it will boast Xbox Live Avatar integration. Things appear to be moving along for its 2011 international release, too, because the Australian classification board has issued a rating.

The game contains enough"mild sporting violence"to warrant a PG, according to its listing atClassification.gov.au(viaSiliconera).

Costume and wrestler customizations will be in the mix, even if more realistic WWE-style wrestlers like what's been seen in the series before are not. Without deep rosters, the game will be working a slightly different angle than its predecessors did on their systems, but that is after all what franchise reboots are supposed to do.

Hopefully, whatever"Fire Pro"lacks in Ultimate Warrior knock-offs it will make up for in crazy luchador masks. Depending on how the controls work, this title could make for a really fun multiplayer experience. A career mode, online matches, single-player and tag team options will all be at its disposal, but if the game's really going to attract attention in the XBL world, it's going to need a big wardrobe.

Are you looking forward to seeing"Fire Pro-Wrestling"get an international launch? Do you think the new look for the franchise will prove to be a good choice? Share your opinions with us in the comment section below.

‘Dynasty Warriors 7′Coming To North America On March 22» MTV Multiplayer

Dynasty Warriors 7

Tecmo Koei revealeda few weeks back that North America would be getting"Dynasty Warriors 7"in all of its Move-supported,co-op-play-including, 3-D glory in March 2011,just like Japan, but they've elaborated on those plans a bit more now, slapping a March 22 release date on the game for North America and March 25 for Europe. The news comes with a army of new info pages now readily available on the game's official English language website.

KoeiWarriors.co.ukhas the new release info, while the English site for"Dynasty Warriors 7"atDynastyWarriors7.euexplains what will be going on if you play through in Story Mode, as well as how"any character can equip almost any weapon"now and how"switch attacks"will allow you to execute some powerful moves as you swap spears and arm cannons.

You may have appreciated unique character-specific weapons in the past, but TK appears to have opted to de-standardize such things in favor of a greater range of choices this time around. With more than 60 characters entering battle for"DW7,"though, you'll have plenty to look at as you figure out what your favorite combos are.

Oh, and in case you didn't already know or notice at the bottom of the page there, this sequel isn't going to beexclusive to the PlayStation 3globally, so you'll have your pick of platforms as well when it launches

Are you expecting good things from"Dynasty Warriors 7"? What do you think of the combat and attack changes being implemented? Share your reactions with us in the comment section below.

‘Jimmie Johnson’s Anything With An Engine’Puts Motors On Toilets» MTV Multiplayer

Jimmie Johnson racing game

"Mario Kart"meets"Jackass"was the first phrase that came to my mind after watching the trailer for"Jimmie Johnson's Anything With An Engine."The five-time NASCAR premier division champion has his eyes set on making a game for all major consoles now, and unlike his day job, which involves lots of high-speed left turns in cars, this title will feature racing competitions with lawnmowers, toilets and dumpsters. Are you intrigued?

"There's no denying that video games are certainly one of the most popular forms of entertainment,"Johnson said in a press release."There are certainly a lot of entertaining racing games, but I've always felt there was something missing. I wanted to capture that kind of 'anything goes' element in racing and make a unique game that appeals to everyone. The teams at Autumn Games and Isopod Laps are incredibly talented, which gives us the opportunity to develop what I hope is a truly ground-breaking series."

The idea here is just crazy enough to work. Isopod are the makers of so-so Xbox Live Arcade release"Vigilante 8: Arcade,"and"Anything With An Engine"looks like it could be a step up, but the bizarre concept vehicles and stunt courses will have to define their game as more than a kart racer without Nintendo characters in order to do break real ground."Burnout"played with motorized porto-potties is something I don't believe I've seen in a game before, though, so stay open-minded.

Does"Anything With An Engine"sound like the kind of game you'd want to play? Does Jimmie Johnson's name on it make any difference to you? Share your reactions with us in the comment section below.

New‘Call Of Duty: Black Ops’Patch Being Deployed For PC» MTV Multiplayer

Call of Duty Black Ops PC patch

Treyarch targetedlag issues among other things in a patchlast month for"Call of Duty: Black Ops"on the PC, and they'll be rolling out more fixes soon. On their list of things to mend are a care package glitch that's resulted in extremely long killstreaks and some issues that have been affecting players with only two core processers in their machines.

"We are listening to you and we’ve been busy working on updates based on feedback from the community,"a Treyarch representative wrote in a post on the"Black Ops"forums."We have already deployed a number of updates, and there will be many more to come."

Treyarch recognizes that some players have been exploiting the chance to"get an infinite number of 'Sam Turret', 'Care Package' and 'Sentry Gun' killstreaks,"which you can see explained in greater detailhere(viaJoystiq). Clipping, radar and invisible ledge issues also appear on the fix list, which doesn't include any deadlines, but it does articulate that the studio is paying attention to feedback and knows what they need to address.

If you've experienced any quirks, crashes or obviously overpowered assaults by glitch exploiters during online PC play recently, there's a good chance your problem is on this rundown; it's pretty big. So give it a read and see if a nicer care package without infinite killstreaks is in store for you and your game anytime soon.

Are you still experiencing any problems with online play for"Black Ops"? Have you encountered any issues on Treyarch's list? Share your thoughts on the subject with us in the comment section below.

Monty Python Facebook Game Welcoming Beta Testers» MTV Multiplayer

Ministry of Silly Games

The British comedy legends from Monty Python have decided to bring their characters and concepts back to the world of games, and the newly-anointed Python license-holders at Zattikka have chosen Facebook as their platform."The Ministry of Silly Games"uses terminology silly walk fans will immediately understand, and Zattikka hopes that a sufficient number of them will like the upcoming release's premise enough to sign up for a beta test onMinistryofSillyGames.com.

"I guess my visuals have always been a bit videogamey,"Python member Terry Gilliam said in a press release,"so it's brilliant seeing them actually in games at last. The Ministry of Silly Games looks like what was inside my head when I was creating all that iconic imagery. I know the game will prove massively popular when it launches."

The first MP game release in 13 years (if you don't count thisbrowser-based"Spamalot"game, I guess) will include infamous eater Mr. Creosote, along with a round of Russian roulette with a Twit and animals in catapults.

"The Ministry of Silly Games brings Monty Python characters and scenes to life like never before,"member Terry Jones said."For years, people have wondered what it would be like to catapult livestock at French fortresses, or play Russian Roulette with an Upper Class Twit. Well now they finally can, thanks to The Ministry of Silly Games."

Given the size of MP's international fanbase that's been cultivated over the decades, I have no doubt in my mind that Zattikka will find a few enthusiastic testers out there to tap for debugging purposes and ample feedback. As for what's actually inside the games, there's not a great deal of info on the Zattikka site yet, but I'd love to see some new, more contemporary material written by the troupe that satirizes Facebook.

Are you signing up for the"Ministry of Silly Games"beta test? Do you think these games will live up to past Python releases? Share your expectations with us in the comment section below.

Ubisoft Contemplating The Next Decade Of Assassin’s Creed» MTV Multiplayer

Words with Friends

TheAssasin's Creedfranchise wasn't exactly floundering prior to the release of"Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood"this year, but a reported 20 million units sold has put some new wind into Ubisoft's sails. They've already announced that Ubisoft Montreal will tackle the nextAssassin's Creed sequel for 2011, and now it looks like they may be thinking even farther into the future— maybe even into 2020.

"Assassin's Creed is our biggest franchise now, and we will invest to keep it big for the next few years– and maybe the next ten years,"EMEA sales and marketing chief Geoffroy Sardin toldMCV.

In the meantime, Sardin confirmed that another game is on the way and that more DLC will be out soon, which we knew from past interviews.

"We will have good surprises for players in the weeks and months to come,"he explained.

With longterm plans and a potential annual frequency of releases in store for AC, the big question still on my mind is whether or not free DLC like"Animus Project Update 1.0"is going to become standard. Ubi might have a vested interest in keeping new, free updates for games coming to keep its audience playing year to year, and giving them more ways to play without price barriers could be a fine strategy for accomplishing that task. More freebees or not, though, 2011 should prove to be an eventful one if you're invested in the franchise.

Where would you like to see Ubisoft take Assassin's Creed if it lasts another ten years? Do you think standardizing free DLC would be a good call on their part? Share your responses with us in the comment section below.

Finally You Can Play The Most Original Game From E3 2010» MTV Multiplayer

Ghost Trick

There are times when, despite our best efforts, words simply fail to convey a game adequetly."Ghost Trick"is one such game, and despite loving what I saw at this year's E3 and at recent preview events, it's extremely difficult to explain without sounding, well, lame. I can give you the developer's pedigree (they've made the"Ace Attorney"games, for example) and I can give you the elevator pitch (you're a dead guy, attempting to save lives through small supernatural interactions) but neither is going to make you plunk down cash for this title when it releases in January on the DS.

What sold me on"Ghost Trick"was the short, 15 minute demo I tried at E3. Andnow you can play the same demo, as it's available onNintendo's UK site.

A few things to keep in mind. Like the"Ace Attorney"games, and almost every other Japanese game ever made, it's chatty. There's a lot of text before you're able to do a whole lot. It's amusing and well-written text, but if you're in a rush, hold off until you have a few minutes to dedicate to the demo. The moment where it all clicked for me was in the insane, intense build-up at the end, so make sure you stick it out.

"Ghost Trick"is the sort of game that's unlikely to sell gangbusters in the US, with its strange name, stranger premise and lack of a franchise tie-in. But it's also the sort of game that will very likely develop a cult following and if you're on the forefront of that, imagine how much more geek cred you'll earn. And these days, with the economy how it is, geek cred is at an all-time high.

‘Angry Birds Halloween’Goes Seasonal With Update» MTV Multiplayer

Angry Birds Seasons

In terms of bang for your buck, few games on the App Store are able to stretch a dollar further than"Angry Birds."Scoff if you will, but if you've bought the iPhone best seller, you've likely sunk at least a few hours into the physics puzzler. A few weeks ago,"Angry Birds Halloween"was released for a dollar, adding 45 creepy, pumpkin-filled levels.

In terms of value, it didn't quite match the original"Angry Birds,"which boasts around 200 levels, thanks to numerous free updates, but give it time! In an update, Rovio changed the name of"Angry Birds Halloween"to"Angry Birds Seasons."What does this mean for you? Well, for starters, 25 free Christmas-themed levels. As the name implies, this won't be the last update to the game. Expect regular content packs tied to different holidays throughout the year. No word yet on whether they'll all be free, but given the success of the pricing model for the original"Angry Birds,"I'd imagine Rovio will be keeping things cheap.

Interestingly, the levels in"Angry Birds Seasons"are actually tied to specific dates, so you won't be able to play all 25 Christmas levels until, you guessed it, Christmas Day. A new level will unlock every day until then.

While it's clear that Rovio is cashing in on the"Angry Birds"craze, it's hard to fault them for it when they're just asking for a dollar for so much content. Heck, you may even think they deserve more than that. If so, Rovio has started sellingofficial plush Angry Birdsfor $15. It won't make a good holiday gift, as orders made today won't ship until January, but if you're looking for a limbless bird to snuggle with in 2011, this is your best bet.

Mila Kunis Goes Cold Turkey On‘WoW,’Dreams Of Pigtailed Mage Role In Movie» MTV Multiplayer

TheMila Kunisfans of the world are likely already aware of the fact that the spunky star was obsessed with playingWorld of Warcraft. So obsessed, in fact, that the"Black Swan"actress had to cut herself off and stop playing cold turkey.

"I'm off,"she told MTV News recently when she stopped by our New York offices to discuss her new role in theDarren Aronofskythriller."I took it off the computer. I did. I didn't cancel my account, so I still have my little twinks running around, but I had to take it off,"she said, then laughed at herself for sounding so distraught."I feel like a drug addict talking about a drug."

Don't worry though, Kunis claimed she hasn't given up the game for good - she's just limited her own access to it.

"My account still stands, it's just I don’t have it on my computer when I travel,"she said.

Fair enough. We know those who suffer from"WoW"affliction/addiction. The hardest part is recognizing the signs of extreme obsession, and then figuring a way to manage it. So bravo, Mila!

Regarding the"World of Warcraft"moviehowever, Kunis would have no problem jumping on board that project, if and when it happens.

"Hell yeah! I would do it, of all things,"she exclaimed and then addressed what type of role she'd want."I don’t know if I would want to be a big character in it,"she said."But I would totally want to run around as a little mage. Like a kick-ass mage. With pigtails? Mmmmm... Awesome!"
