Valve's"Portal 2"is only a few weeks away now. You've read the previews, watched the videos, seen the trailers... all that fun stuff. Now we enter the next, and final, phase of marketing as the countdown to the April 19 release continues: TV spots! There's a new coming to small screens everywhere soon, and we've got an early peak for you dedicated fans here on the Internet. Check it out after the jump.
Sure, it's not very revealing. Just a couple of bumbling robots flying through the air and diving into and out of the game's titular portals. Are you really going to complain though when you get to hear the dulcet, condescending tones of GLaDOS again?
"Portal 2"picks up long after the events of the first game. Chell, the original protagonist, is back, having been trapped in stasis during the many intervening years. As you've already read inRuss's preview, she awakens after all of those years in a retro motel room with a new robotic companion to guide her: Wheatley, voiced by Stephen Merchant.
While the gameplay is fundamentally the same, there are some added quirks and features to help flesh out the lengthier campaign. There are actuallytwocampaigns in total, both running for around six hours. One is focused entirely on telling a single-player-driven story while the other introduces co-op for the first time. There are options for online and local co-op play, as well as a feature that allows online players to switch to a split-screen view, to better coordinate the more challenging level of puzzle-solving that the co-op campaign delivers.
